In a world of shiny, white, space-age powerboats, the world famous nautical brand, Riva, continues to provide us with crafts that are the very essence of timeless elegance. It would take something seriously special to be named successor to some of Riva’s most legendary models, such as Aquariva Super and Aquamara; perhaps that’s why Riva have dedicated an exclusive production line to the creation of this masterpiece. Cutting edge technology draws Carlo Riva’s dream – to always build the most beautiful boat – into the future, and engraves it forever into memory.
39ft long, with a full beam of 11.6ft, Rivamare is perfectly proportioned, offering a quality of space and comfort unprecedented in a boat of this size. With regards to overall impression, the new model’s sinuous and sleek exterior gives it an aspect as sporty as it is seductive; the daring angles of the keel and bow could easily be imagined to be destined as much for flight as they are for skimming across the waves. Shifting attention to the finer points, the care that has been directed at every detail is indisputable. Five double-curved laminated crystal glass sections make up the distinctive windscreen; a central glass pane enhances the panelled deck; and, in keeping with the timeless aesthetics that allude to the glamour of the speedboats of the past, a mahogany shaft for hanging the Riva banner is fitted to the deck, alongside a signal horn, cased in a chrome plated aluminium alloy. The stylistic traditions of the Sarnico boatyard blend seamlessly with state of the art aesthetics and design. Put simply, this is not an object for indifferent observation, but one that demands admiration.
And that’s just when it’s stationary. The performance capacity of this vessel is just another thing that makes it stand out. Thanks to a pair of D6 400 DPH Volvo Penta engines, which each generate 400 Mhp at 3,500 rpm, she has a cruising speed of 31 knots, and a top speed of 40. And she’s not just about raw power: the combined use of the propellors, driven by the integrated control system, makes executing manoeuvres in narrow waters exceptionally easy. An optional driving mode function enables the Rivamare to be piloted solely through the joystick, and alongside the standard analogue instrumentation a display touch screen combines the engine monitoring and navigation functions. All of this is controlled from a pilothouse that takes inspiration from the driver’s cabin of a sports car. The control panel is in carbon fibre, the frame lined in technical fabric; rich detailing is pivotal from the custom-designed seats to the model name.
It goes without saying that luxury is of the essence here, but we’ll rave about it anyway. In the stern, the hatch (which features inbuilt mahogany steps) swings open to reveal a beach platform, complete with two specially designed ergonomic sun pads and a mahogany topped fender bar. More steps conveniently appear once the hatch is open, framed by two storage compartments, one of which can be enlarged to store a Seabob. The option of an underwater lighting system seems hard to refuse. The two furniture units behind the helm station serve as a fully-equipped cocktail preparation area, and the C-shaped sofa serves as the perfect zone from which to enjoy your drink. In case of unreliable weather, the retractable electro-hydraulic bimini top provides more than adequate protection, yet the gorgeous masterpiece that is the interior space means that heading below deck is hardly a nuisance. Storage, air circulation (provided by two skylights), and aesthetics have all been given equally high consideration, meaning that the appeal and comfort of the Rivamare is far from confined to the exterior.
