DRINK – 5 Of The Best Whiskys

“Whisky, like a beautiful woman, demands appreciation. You gaze first, then it’s time to drink.”
Haruki Murakami

With this in mind, Gentlemen, we cordially invite you to take a moment to yourself today, sit back in aged leather arm chair, (ideally in a dimly lit library if you have one to hand), and indulge in a glass of one of these top five whiskys of choice…

Powetrs - TGJ
This wonderful whiskey from Powers is a great example of how tradition and craftsmanship can meet innovation. Powers 12 year old Reserve is a very special premium edition of Powers Gold Label, Ireland’s favourite whiskey. It still retains the characteristic spiciness of its younger brother, but this 12 year old special reserve takes it to a whole new level.

Glenfiddich - TGJ
This whisky has an earthy aroma of figs & orange marmalade, with bright notes of fresh gooseberries & ripening grapes. The cinnamon & crushed black pepper with caramelised fruits, crystallised ginger, raisins and hints of dry oak make this a pleasingly dry whisky that fades into a sweet marmalade finish.

Highland Park - TGJ
This whisky still remains as one of the gold standard malts for other distillery bottlings to aspire to. With a delicious sweetness (heather-honey is their preferred description) and a warming, silky feel, this is a whisky that never lets you down.

Bowmore - TGJ
This deep, rich mahogany coloured whisky has delicious toffee and hazelnut taste, woven together with just a hint of sweet peat smoke. A mellow, gentle and incredibly complex finish.

Hibiki - TGJ.05
A stunning 12 year-old blend from Hibiki, some of the whisky has been part-matured in plum liqueur casks. Lovely malt from Hakushu and Yamazaki, plus some aged grain from Chita, this terrific Japanese blend picked up the top prize in its category at the World Whisky Awards 2010, and still remains a firm favourite of ours.
