LIFESTYLE – Yacht Interiors

Following last week’s article on Superyacht toys we’ve been intrigued since to take a peek through the portholes of some of the world’s biggest floating houses. The lack of an invite says this is the only way so what we say (that rhymes!) might be word on the street. It was always going to be pretty fantastical right? Start imagining sleek minimalist décor, plush furniture and luxurious decks with expansive views over the ocean.

Let’s start with Vertigo: officially the seventh largest sailing yacht in the world, the luxurious interiors of this 220-foot yacht were designed by renowned French designer, Christian Liaigre. The Vertigo has ultra-luxurious accommodation for 12 guests and a crew of eleven. The yacht boasts five staterooms centred on a massive owner’s suite, a convertible gym and a well-furnished sleek dining hall. Think Hermès furnishings, plush white leather and rich mahogany floors.

Roman Abramovich is pretty hush hush about the interior design of his Eclipse. As is the case with most of the expensive private yachts, the cruise boat comes with copious toys, including its own helicopters with three landing pads, six tenders and the not-so-common fleet of three-man leisure submarines.

The yacht is fortified with advanced technology and armour plating, bullet proof windows, an advanced missile detection system and a provision to escape via a submarine located at the bottom end of the yacht – got to take these things into account. Inside, the yacht has a 5000 sq ft master suite, a wellness centre and the private theatre, as well as two swimming pools out on deck. This palace on water houses a staggering 115 people at a time.

To accommodate the needs of his guests the yacht also has a massage room, indoor cinema, gymnasium, swimming pool and a hairdressing salon. It has an exciting range of toys which include jet skis, an underwater jet bike, water skis, wake boards and a banana boat….as long as there is a banana boat!
