Not only can motorcycles weave in and around traffic, they also boast insane power-to-weight ratios, meaning their acceleration is often unmatched. Motorcycles are generally cheaper than cars too, although these three buck that trend. Here are the most expensive motorcycles in the world.

CONFEDERATE HELLCAT

Hand-built in the USA, Confederate are makers of some of the meanest motorcycles around. Their Fighter and Wraith models are closely under wraps at the moment – with release dates confirmed for later in the year – but the Hellcat is more than holding its ground with its 121bhp V-Twin and drop-dead looks.

, Combining the technology of a Formula One car with the attention to detail of a luxury watchmaker is NCR, who build some very special, and expensive motorcycles. The M16 is based on the Ducati DD16RR, yet takes it up about ten notches with uber-lightweight carbon fibre parts, making it lighter than a MotoGP race bike. All of this innovation will cost you though – around £152,000 to be precise.
