If you’re looking for a watch to make an impression, then you’ve most certainly found it in NOMOS Glashütte Metro neomatik 39 silvercut. One of the most striking new pieces from the German watchmakers, the Metro neomatik 39 silvercut has a particularly confident design, built to be perfectly-proportioned for male wrists, but at once striking, large and incredibly slender and precise – all thanks to its neomatik calibre.
A stainless steel case – complete with domed sapphire crystal glass and sapphire crystal caseback – measures 38.5mm in diameter, and encases the in-house built NOMOS calibre DUW 3001 with automatic winding, NOMOS swing system and tempered blue balance spring.
And what a calibre it is. With decentralised seconds, a stop-seconds mechanism, 27 jewels, bidirectional winder and rhodium-plated movement surfaces, you can be sure than the Saxony-based watchmaker’s most standout piece in their latest ‘At Work’ collection is as capable on the inside as its sleek, sophisticated looks would suggest.
Super slender, large, and automatically competent – the ‘At Work’ series as a whole has been tailored specifically for office life – whether in the UN assembly, an engineering office in Berlin, or a studio somewhere in Brussels. But our favourite of the 14 new timepieces is undeniably the Metro neomatik 39 silvercut – a statement in grey.
Among the other design features of this stunning watch, the polished dial features a small neomatik inscription, the case features wire lugs – long a tradition in the world of fine watches, and the strap is crafted from genuine shell Cordovan leather in classical black. We also love the subtle hints of red on the second hand and 3-hour markers – a touch of excitement and danger on an otherwise cool and calming silver.
But it’s the size and width that really sets the Metro neomatik 39 silvercut away from the crowd. As we mentioned, it still manages to look bold and full on your wrist – but measures just 8mm in height, at once affording you statement and sleekness. And what more could you want?
