Chelsea is back! Embrace the spiritual home of Cool Britannia this summer

Think roaring twenties instead of boring noughties to channel this look...

Chelsea: spiritual home of Cool Britannia, before that phrase became a little too Tony Blair; beating heart of London’s florid artistic scene (long before all the yoga studios and juice); former stomping ground of The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Vivienne Westwood, no less (and believe us, she can stomp alright.)

And now, of course, something else entirely — a curious artefact of a funny old twenty years; a pretty by-product of globalisation, Cameronisation, Instagrammification, price inflation, Californication — and so on and so forth. But it’s best not to dwell on all that.

Hugh: Lacoste Teddy Jacket, £330; Ralph Lauren Button-Down Shirt, £110; Mr Marvis Easies Trouser, £99.

There’s still hope. These stucco townhouses still glow white hot in the sun; the Albert Bridge still twinkles with pastel Englishness; the back streets still thrum with interesting people, good conversation, and better taste. There is still, once you lift up the rock, an artistic sensibility at large; a refinement tempered by playfulness.

With that in mind, we hope to bring back a spirit of a younger, hipper, more colourful period in the borough’s history with our recent shoot  — and inflect it with the brands and tastemakers of today. Think Ivy League by way of The Who, with a good dose of the new ‘Roaring Twenties’ in there, too.

Peter: Tod’s Chore Jacket, £1,150; Sunspel Sunspel Loopback Crew Sweat Dusty Pink, £110; Tommy Hilfiger Wide-Leg Chinos; Serge De Nimes Silver T-Bar Necklace, £80. Hamady: Connolly Car Vest, £295; Sunspel Loopback Crew Sweat Soft Grey, £110; Trunk Clothiers Duke Corduroy 5 Pocket Trousers in Off White Trouser, £165; Serge De Nimes St Christopher Necklace, £75; Schott NYC Cap.

There’s a teddy jacket from Lacoste, in a summery alligator green; golf-inspired coats from Grenfell; preppy stalwarts Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger; cricket jumpers and denim jackets; pastel shades and pops of primary boldness; sixties-leaning sunglasses from Curry & Paxton; Brunello Cucinelli blazers and modern tweeds; and new British invasion staples from Sunspel and Thom Sweeney and the rest. Chelsea lives, friends.

Efosa: Brunello Cucinelli Twisted Linen Blazer With Metal Buttons, £2,800; Turbull & Asser Crimson Linen Holiday Shirt, £275; De Fursac Denim Jeans, £185; Edward Green Newmarket Raw Umber Suede Boots, £1,185. Erica: Polo Ralph Lauren Reversible Balmacaan Coat, £1,095; Polo Ralph Lauren The Iconic Cricket Sweater, £305; Brunello Cucinelli, Linen Trousers With Belt, £1,420. Hugh: Thom Sweeney Vintage Linen Double Breasted Suit, £1790; New & Lingwood Gold Burgundy Antique Paisley Tubular Silk Scarf £155; Crockett & Jones.
