As one of the most important events on the horological calendar, Watches & Wonders haute horlogerie exhibition, based in Hong Kong, begins today with a highly anticipated array of releases for all watch lovers. It is believed that the world of fine watchmaking is about more than timepieces, it is the very essence of history, the unequivocal journey of time and the utter enjoyment of some of the most spectacular creations in the world. Watches & Wonders highlights the cultural and technical significance of horology and offers some of the most spectacular pieces to the Asian markets. “The spirit behind fine watchmaking is one of continued innovation,” says Fabienne Lupo, Chairwoman and Managing Director of the Fondation de Haute Horlogerie, “And this event is a good reflection of that spirit because the concept is new and it’s designed to meet the needs of an ever changing world. That’s why we think it really can be the fine watchmaking rendez-vous in Asia that no one will want to miss.”
12 of the finest watch brands in the world will be exhibiting; A. Lange & Söhne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Officine Panerai, Piaget, Richard Mille, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin and Van Cleef & Arpels. With so many phenomenal brands involved, there truly are watches for all tastes, and this year is set to be big.
We’re particularly excited about the new Montblanc Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar Sapphire, which is launching at Watches & Wonders today. The encasement, made of 18-karat red gold, displays beautiful proportions, with a diameter of 39 millimetres, a thickness of only 10.24 millimetres. The inclusion of a transparent dial means the entire movement can be seen, giving it a raw, masculine feel.
