The company that gives a new meaning to takeaway

How did you eat lunch today? If you’re anything like me, you ran downstairs to Pret, spent far too much money on a salad that filled you up for an hour (at a push) and ate it at your desk whilst cramming as much work as you possibly can into the last few hours of the week. And while yes, there are people out there who use their Sunday afternoon to create all of their lunches for the week, most of the time (hopefully) the majority of us have something better to do. So what’s the solution?

Enter Potage, whose raison d’être is to save Londoners from lunch or dinner dissatisfaction and to bring (directly to your door) incredible, healthy and satisfying food. The aim of Potage is simple: to make healthy eating easier. Companies such as this don’t really exist – any chance of survival, by most, has been thumped to the ground by the violent rise of fast food chains, their convenience and the fact that lunchers know that what they buy is going to taste the same every single time. But where’s the fun in that? These are huge, corporate chains, owned by the likes of Coca Cola, that don’t really care about making healthy and/or satisfying meals, and the food just doesn’t have the same kind of care and attention put into it as someone like Georgia, the founder of Potage, puts into her food.

There’s a common (and now redundant) misconception that takeaway food should be reserved purely for greasy, fatty and generally unhealthy foods. And that’s where Potage aims to make a difference: by changing the way we see takeaway and by leading the change in the industry – one that is very much welcome (and needed).

Fresh is the name of the game with everything that Potage creates, and all of the ingredients are supplied by other small and local businesses: cheese comes from cheesemongers, dairy from a dairy farm, vegetables from local farmers, and meat from local butchers. It’s all seasonal too, so you also know it’s as natural as natural can be and that the food isn’t created with just you in mind, but with the planet in mind as well.

The now thriving business was launched in 2012 with the very simple idea to bring fresh, nutritious foods into people’s lives at the click of a button. Georgia used to cook, recipe create and deliver (on her bike) every single meal herself, until the word spread and people started to embrace the change of lunch-time habit. Now with a steady team of 7 underneath her, every employee adopts the same philosophy and has the same end goal to make healthy eating as straightforward as possible. And with meals as delicious as these, we think their achieving that.

Potage caters for individuals and corporate events and delivers 11-3pm for lunch, and 3-9pm for supper. Find out more about Potage here, and follow them on Instagram here.
