Royal Ascot style round-up
Few British sporting events get as much press as Royal Ascot. This is few for three reasons. 1) The finest jockeys and the fastest horses compete there, meaning the races are some of the most enthralling on the calendar. 2) The history behind the event is immense, dating back to as early as 1711. 3) Because of the previous two points, people turn out in droves wearing truly extravagant dress, thus making for some interesting and at times, funny, pictures.
Some people get it right though, and they tend to be those who’ve been to Ascot time and time again, or of course Royals. Here are some of the best-dressed men of Royal Ascot 2015.
PRINCE MICHAEL OF KENT

Prince Michael of Kent is always immaculately dressed. He’s noted for his sharp bespoke suits and large Windsor knot ties, which we wouldn’t normally recommend, but somehow the debonair Prince manages to pull them off with aplomb.

Ignoring the crazy handlebar moustache/lamb chop sideburn combination (it was done for a film role), Mr Lewis looks incredibly dapper in this Oliver Brown charcoal three-piece morning suit and top hat.
PRINCE HARRY

It’s the subtle differences that will make you stand out at Ascot, so if you’re unsure, take a leaf out of Prince Harry’s book. Mixing things up with a Royal blue double-breasted waistcoat, light blue floral tie and miniature flower lapel pin, he looks every bit the suave gentleman.

He is a designer after all. A contemporary take on the morning suit, Patrick Grant’s dark grey three-piece is accented by a pale blue, classic collar dress shirt and deep brown silk tie complete with a perfect four-in-hand knot.
PRINCE PHILIP

A great example of a good, old-fashioned morning suit, Philip dons a typically wide-shouldered black jacket paired with pleated Westminster-striped trousers complete with a full break. His double-breasted mid-grey waistcoat is a classic addition that’s given a colourful boost in the form of his brightly patterned tie. Not bad.
