Patek Philippe lands in London with Grand Exhibition

Patek Philippe don’t do things by half. Renowned as the world’s pre-eminent watch brand, they’ve recently been celebrating their 175th birthday and to close proceedings they’ve landed in London and opened up one of the biggest exhibitions of its kind the world has ever seen. Taking over the entirety of the Saatchi Gallery, Patek Philippe are showcasing over 400 exquisite timepieces in what they are calling Watch Art, a Grand Exhibition now open to the public.

Of the 15 themed areas, there are a number that stand out. The Movement Room showcases the entire collection of movements from the manufacture in a 360-degree manner, allowing you to truly appreciate the complexity of these technical achievements.

Elsewhere, the 175th anniversary area displays the latest collection of timepieces, recently unveiled to celebrate the brand’s big anniversary. The Grandmaster Chime is the jewel in the crown, and as such it gets its very own room, which is apt considering its going rate of over £2million.

Other rooms include the Immersion Room, Film Theatre Room, Current Collection Room, Museum Room, Grand Complications Room, Rare Handcrafts Gallery room and more. A total of 2,200 square metres of space will be transformed by Patek, and watchmakers will even be present to demonstrate just what it takes to create a masterpiece.

Mark Hearn, Managing Director for Patek Philippe UK, said: “We are very proud of hosting this magnificent event in London, a multicultural city and a hub for business and tourists who come to visit from all over the world. If we can inspire and help visitors to understand and appreciate watchmaking, we will have achieved our objective.” Here is a glimpse of some of the other timepieces on display…
