Why You Should Never Stay Friends with an Ex
Being friends with an ex is supposed to be a sign of a mature gentleman who copes with the end of a relationship wonderfully. Wrong! Well, for the most part wrong. If you are still attempting to be friends with your ex, I’m afraid, for most, it is time to wake up and smell the coffee because you deluded and here are the reasons why.
THEY HAVE SEEN YOU NAKED, A serious line has been crossed and can never be uncrossed. Shut your eyes. Can you picture your ex post coital? Yes, and so can she and that gives her special privileges that normal friends don’t have.
FALSE HOPE, Either you’re kidding yourself or she is. That little voice that whispers ‘maybe if we hang out enough…’ is the devil and you shouldn’t listen to it. Ever. You broke up for a reason.
IT SEVERELY HINDERS MOVING ON, As long as she is around your emotional needs are probably still being fulfilled and you have no drive to find someone new. Plus see how fast a girl runs away if you have baggage on your arm labelled ‘ex’. I dare you.
FRIENDS TELL EACH OTHER THEIR NEWS.., ..including who they are dating. Do you need to hear about the new Mr Muscle in her life? Similarly if you are a gentleman you would not want to rub your new interest in her face. Bad form.
CHEMISTRY, The wonderful science that brought you two together hasn’t just gone away because you had conflict of interests. If you stay friends you will find yourself in all sorts of situations (mainly involving alcohol) that will tempt you both and that is dangerous my friend.
