Lamborghini, the raging bull of the automotive world, has its roots firmly grounded in the Italian passion and the vitality of the Taurus, Feruccio Lamborghini. Although Feruccio had been in the post WWII automotive industry, with his tractor empire, he longed to create supercars, and very openly did so in an attempt to rival Ferrari. Over the years, Lamborghini has changed hands many times, gone through periods of severe drought, and even filed for bankruptcy, but has pulled through, and is now a global phenomenon in the industry. 1. 1965 350 GT
The 350 GT was Lamborghini’s first production car, and one that sealed it in the history books. Not only a piece of moveable art, its 3.5L V12 engine made it perform impeccably too.
2. 1969 Miura P400s
Widely considered to be the car that sparked the mid-engined, two-seater supercar boom, the Miura started it all. Both Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis owned one, making it a true gentleman’s car.
3. 1970 Espada SII
The Espada was Lamborghini’s first 4-seater Grand Touring Coupé, with a whopping 4L V12, it became Lamborghini’s best selling car to date.
4. 1975 Countach LP400
The revolutionary shape of the Countach pioneered the wedge-shaped front-end, and the overall highly angled lines, popular with many supercars at the time, and it is considered one of the greatest supercars ever built.
5. 1990 Diablo
Stylistically, the Diablo was not only the birth of modern supercar design; it was also capable of reaching over 200mph thanks to the impressive 5.7L V12 engine. A car of beauty, it sold over 2,500 models.
6. 2001 Murciélago
The first car released under the ownership of parent company Audi, owned by Volkswagen, the Murciélago became Lamborghini’s most infamous car. An all-wheel drive, 6.2L V12, it was not only an engineering marvel, but stunning too.
7. 2004 Gallardo
The most widely sold Lamborghini, with over 14,000 produced, the Gallardo was the Murciélago’s successor, and named after a famous fighting-bull breed, its powerful lines showed Lamborghini’s industry domination.
8. 2008 Reventón
The ultra-exclusive Reventón, of which only 20 were produced for the public market, was Lamborghini’s shining car, showing the very best engineering on the market. The all-carbon fibre exterior was styled on the world’s fastest aeroplanes, making it sleek and utterly beautiful.
9. 2011 Aventador LP700-4
With styling taken from the Reventón, the Aventador is Lamborghini’s full-production pinnacle. Still in production today, its stealth-fighter plane inspired exterior and phenomenal power (a top speed of 217mph) showcases Lamborghini’s endless prominence.
10. 2014 Huracán LP 610-4
Revealed last year, the Huracán has taken over from the Gallardo as Lamborghini’s flagship car. Combining Lamborghini’s plethora of technological and design knowledge, the Huracán is sure to become one of the most famous Lamborghini’s ever made.
