Introducing: Apple Watch

It’s finally here.

Apple’s highly anticipated smart watch was unveiled yesterday at their annual September special event in Cupertino, California and, it’s fair to say, they haven’t disappointed.

Although the smart watch isn’t a new phenomenon, Apple have a history of joining trends late, yet completely changing the direction they are heading. The iPhone revolutionised the mobile, the iPad revolutionised the tablet, and the Apple Watch will…well, you get the gist.

One of the largest problems Apple faced when designing their Watch was individuality. They’ve tackled this by introducing a bevy of strap designs, as well as three distinct watch models.

A range of Apple’s most popular applications have been completely redesigned for the new flexible screen, making it easier than ever to communicate and play games whilst being able to link up with your iPhone.

The thing is though, whilst they are undoubtedly impressive, we still stand by our theory that smart watches are for boys, not gentlemen.

Here are Apple’s new watches, in closer detail.

APPLE WATCH, , The standard Apple Watch is perhaps the finest. With a polished stainless steel case, a slick Digital Crown with black insert and a number of smart straps and bracelets available, it is bound to be the most popular choice. Similar to fine Swiss watches, it boasts a sapphire crystal front, which is both scratch resistant and reduces glare. The pictured watch features the Milanese Loop strap, which has been woven on unique Italian machines and features magnetised ends for the perfect fit on the wrist.

APPLE WATCH SPORT, , The Apple Watch Sport is constructed from a lightweight matte aluminium, and features a sweat-proof rubber strap in a range of vibrant colours. Perfect for those on the move, then. The display is protected by special Ion-X glass and the pin-and-tuck closure on the strap ensures it won’t slip as you exercise.

APPLE WATCH EDITION , , The Apple Watch Edition is the most expensive and extravagant offering from the Cupertino brand. Two cases are available, one made of 18k yellow gold, and the other 18k rose gold. This use of exotic case material is a first for smart watches, and introduces a luxury element to wearable technology.
