The Coolest Cocktail Bars To Try This Weekend

As cocktail bars become nothing but ubiquitous, finding the best spots in town is as imperative as ever. Whether you’re out to impress a date or just in the market for a new haunt, these are the coolest joints to become acquainted with this weekend.

69 COLEBROOKE ROW

For so long known as ‘the bar with no name’, 69 Colebrooke row is a London favourite. Tucked down an Islington backstreet and identifiable by a burgundy awning and a lantern, its bespoke offering is second to none and thus without a booking you’d be fortunate to get a seat. We rather like the spicy Bloody Mary and Woodland Martini although for something completely different, consider their Prairie Oyster.

BAR TERMINI

Known for coffee as much as their cocktails, the two gentlemen running the show are Marco Arrigo, head of quality for illy and Tony Conigliaro, a renowned mixologist and the brains behind 69 Colebrooke Row. Bar Termini is in Soho on Old Compton Street and seats 25, you’ll definitely need to book if you’re planning a visit. The Marsala Martini comes highly recommended.

EXPERIMENTAL COCKTAIL CLUB

Hidden behind a Chinatown door, Experimental Cocktail Club is as close to a modern speakeasy as you can get. While booking isn’t essential as around half of the capacity is unreserved, it’s recommended. The menu doesn’t entirely live up to the moniker but the cocktails remain complex and memorable, the Havana in particular is a firm favourite with its cigar-infused-bourbon base. There’s also a range of vintage spirits for those unafraid of parting with some serious cash.
