The Most Complicated Watch in the World

This is the Patek Philippe Supercomplication. For those that know, it’s the most astounding timepiece to ever grace our planet. It’s also the most expensive and, as the name would suggest, it’s super complicated. So complicated in fact, that it took a staggering 8 years to make, but the result was a truly innovative creation that boasted features unheard of at the time.

Forget the smart watches of today, back when it was created in 1933 this thing was positively genius. Famous horological collector, Henry Graves, commissioned the piece in the hope that he would become the owner of the most complicated watch the planet had ever seen. He, and Patek Philippe succeeded, and today the watch holds a truly legendary status among watch lovers as a result. Sotheby’s acquired it fairly recently and have announced that they’ll be auctioning it this November. Don’t bother getting your chequebook out unless you’ve got a spare $17 million though.
