AUDEMARS PIGUET – ROYAL OAK CHRONOGRAPH

WATCH-TGJ-001

To understand the artistry and precision behind each and every Audemars Piguet watch, we must go back to 1875, to a small Swiss village called La Brassus. It was here, in the Vallée de Joux, that Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet joined forces with the aim of developing watches equipped with complex mechanisms. They had a unique vision, which flourished.

What sets this company apart is that these two prodigious names are still at the heart of the company, making it the oldest watch-making manufacturer to have never left the hands of its founding families. The passion that Jules and Edward instilled in their first pieces remains at the core of its wristwatches today – no more so than in the Royal Oak Chronograph range.

The case, 41mm in width and 10.8mm in depth, features 18 carat pink gold, glareproofed sapphire crystal and screw-locked crown, while the dial is black with Grande Tapisserie pattern, pink gold applied hour-makers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. It looks – as we’ve become blissfully accustomed to with the brand – fantastic, and integrates the complex and time-tested Chronograph movement and column wheel mechanism.

This watch can be purchased in a number of colours and materials, including as a stunning haute joaillerie model (the first time since its debut in 1997), entirely set with diamonds.

A huge amount has changed within the realms of watch engineering since 1875, but the passion and quality still bursting from the Vallée de Joux hasn’t budged an inch.

Edward and Jules would certainly approve.
