Wishlist: What we want this week

From speedboats to suits, this is what we want this week...

Without doubt, anything from the esteemed house of Chanel is drenched in refined elegance. And, like last year’s models, the new Monsieur de Chanel Platinum Black Watch is powered by the Caliber 1 movement, the company’s first made in-house for a men’s watch.

This model continues with the 240-degree retrograde minute display, seconds sub-dial, and jumping hour display, but is limited to just 100 examples. Prices start at around €60,000 and can be obtained by contacting a Chanel boutique directly.

Built to honour the 50th anniversary of AMG, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT C Edition 50 is a highly limited version of this already exclusive sports car. The GT C pumps out 557bhp (for maximum autobahn self-indulgence), which outperforms its 2016 predecessor’s 522bhp.

Fittingly for an anniversary model, it will be limited to just 50 coupes and 50 roadsters (which come with a special paint called Designo Graphite Grey Magno). Gentlemen, it appears you may need all the horsepower possible to snatch your own Edition 50. Price TBC.

If you’re a fan of bourbon-infused maple syrup (yes, it exists), then you’ve probably acquired a taste for the real thing. It should also come as no surprise that one of the rarest bourbons ever released comes from the fine folks at Buffalo Trace.

With only 100 bottles being released, all from 1980, this nearly 40-year-old bourbon is not only a special spirit, but it also gets special packaging – as the O.F.C. decanter dating back to the early 1900s is a perfect lead-free design replica. Chin chin, gents!

Frédéric Malle still stands out in what could be conceived as an otherwise saturated perfume industry – thanks to his careful selection of perfumers (or noses) who have composed their own distinctively iconic releases (Portrait of a Lady and Monsieur to name a few).

This particular fragrance pays homage to Sophia Grojsman; one of America’s greatest perfumers who was fascinated with roses. Outrageous draws inspiration from a Caipirinha cocktail in Brazil with an explosion of bergamot, tangerine and green apple against a lusty backdrop of cinnamon, musk and ambroxan. Available in eau de parfum, 100ml.

The Mercedes-AMG Marauder Boat is the latest offering of the successful partnership with Cigarette Racing – and we agree when they rhetorically ask why own a boat when you can own a legend? What makes this boat so legendary, is that it’s powered by pair of Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines, letting the pilot switch between 2,700hp and 3,100hp output just by swapping key fobs.

Copious use of carbon fiber allows the 50-foot craft to shed over 1,300 pounds compared to a standard build, and the Green Hell Magno details help establish the connection between the boat and its inspiration, the Mercedes-AMG GT R. Price available upon request.

Sotheby’s, the world’s most prestigious broker in fine arts, jewellery, real estate and collectables have extended their reach digitally. So, gentlemen, you can now bid on the world’s finest from the comfort of your home (or if you happen to be between two cities). Come to think of it, every gent ought to own a work of fine art, and what better place to obtain one than from Sotheby’s.

‘Untitled’ features an arresting yet captivating eye from super model Stephanie Seymour (who graced Playboy, Vogue, ELLE and Cosmopolitan magazine to name a few), in sharp detailing whilst maintaining a deep, sultry iris and pupil. A powerful nod to the iconic sixties ‘look’ that was revived through photography by Uklanski in 2007. The glare of Seymour’s eye shows little emotion, and would make an exquisite focal point upon entry to a room.

Since the days are getting longer (and the temperatures seem to hover at a balmy 10-degrees above freezing), what better way to kick off your spring wardrobe than with Reiss’ Jones 3-piece. Single-buttoned with peak lapels, it’s a nod to timeless elegance without being fuddy-duddy – as most classic-fit suits can otherwise seem dated and stuffy with their 3-buttoned, box-cut aesthetic that’s – frankly – from a land that time forgot.

And for those chillier mornings (we’re still in February, remember), the suit matches handsomely with a warm cashmere crew or zip-neck, a layering trend we do approve of – but please, no v-necks, gents. Still not convinced with oatmeal grey? Believe us when we say, you’ll appear refreshingly standout in ‘oatmeal’ rather than ‘navy’ during London’s high summer months.
