Meet the Italian gunmakers with a world takeover in their sights

As the world’s oldest active manufacturer of rearm components, Beretta’s legacy as a leading gunsmith has been 500 years in the making. The bills of sale are said to still be in the company’s archives.

By the time the English Civil War had broken out and Charles I had lost his head, Beretta was already well into its second century of making guns. The name may has been around forever, so seeing it stamped on a shotgun is a very fine thing.

Ernest Hemingway famously wielded a beloved Beretta SO3, while Steven Spielberg favours an SO4 and has shot alongside Harrison Ford. Even James Bond started out with a Beretta before switching to his trademark Walther PPK.

Stepping inside Beretta’s residence on the corner of Jermyn Street in London, you are fully aware that before you is something built on pure prestige.

Beretta are expanding into Europe’s capitals, following the opening of Galleries in New York, Dallas, Buenos Aires, Paris and Milan where customers will also find travel luggage and accessories, and a selection of books about the Beretta legacy, sporting life, travel and the outdoors.
