5 winter date ideas she’s guaranteed to love

Stuck on where to go this festive season?

Summer dates are easy: fill up a cool box and head to the park and you’re set. Knowing where to take her in the winter, however, is a bit tougher. It’s pitch black, it’s cold, you’re broke. But! Before you find yourself going into blind panic there are still options; there’s mulled wine, there are Christmas lights. So, gentlemen, for the upcoming period we’ve got you covered.

It might sound cheesy, but we can guarantee you that (most) women love nothing more than a festive night out on the ice-rink. Start by meeting her for mulled wine in front of a fire somewhere close by, and then take her somewhere with bright lights (and somewhere that’s not over-populated with kids). If you pick wisely and choose a spot that’s going to get her feeling festive, this is a guaranteed winner. If you’re in London, the Natural History Museum is where you want to be. New York? Central Park. And Parisians, head to Hotel de Ville.

Any girl, no matter what she says, will love being part of your plans and helping you pick out pieces that will play an important part in your life. And for the festive period, the Christmas tree is surely one of the most important parts. There are also very few girls out there who won’t enjoy getting into the festive spirit with the guy she’s dating, so taking her to find the perfect Christmas tree is a great place to start. Even better? Make her a festive tipple of her choice when she gets back to your place and let her have some say in the tree decorating process.

A winter walk is always guaranteed to impress; find an afternoon on the weekend that she’s free and take her to an impressive park (Londoners, Kew Gardens is always a winner). There’s nothing that’ll help you find out more about a person than an hour in each other’s company and, if the date’s going well, head to a pub with a roaring fire to end the date on a serious high.

Unless it’s a first date, invite her over to yours and cook her a delicious roast dinner. There’s nothing more welcoming in the winter than being cooked for, and doing this is guaranteed to keep you in her good books. Get a decent bottle of wine, make something that you already know she loves, and hey bingo – you’ve nailed it.

At this time of year, hotels really pump up the festivities and make their lobbies and living rooms look extra welcoming not to mention romantic. So, do some research and make sure you’re taking her somewhere that’s not riddled with tourists and therefore overpriced. Try and find somewhere with a fire and/or a Christmas tree and you’re guaranteed to win her over. If you’re in London, go to the Rosewood or the Ham Yard hotel. In New York, the Mercer or the Carlyle is always a winner.
