6 BEST CARS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2015

For a large proportion of the population, January is the month to set unrealistic goals, abstain from gastronomic extravagance and hold tight to the purse strings while the weather wages war on your latest exercise regime. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? For four-wheeled fanatics however, it’s a very exciting time of year. It’s the time to start thinking about refreshing what’s on the driveway and get excited about the new releases coming this year. Here’s our pick of the six best cars of 2015.

Ford Mustang

car - TGJ.01

On sale: January

Price: £30,000

After 50 years of waiting, Ford has finally made the decision to import right-hand drive versions of Mustang to the UK. With orders starting in this month and deliveries expected later in the year, those budding Steve McQueen’s had better get down to dealership’s sharpish.

Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf

car - TGJ.03

On sale: early 2015

Price: £400,000 (est)

Images of Aston Martin’s new Lagonda surfaced back in October 2014 and promised a car that was infinitely better looking than the awkward 1970’s creation it replaced. With carbon fibre bodywork and a sumptuous interior, Aston has already declared that the 100-car run will be destined exclusively for the Middle East.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S

car - TGJ.04

On sale: April

Price: £110,495

In the battle for grand touring superiority is Mercedes’s beautifully proportioned AMG GT S, which goes head to head against the mighty Porsche 911 in April. Representing a more refined take on the SLS AMG, the GT S comes equipped with a potent V8 capable of producing over 503bhp.

Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

car - TGJ.02

On sale: May (estimated)

Price: £50,000 (est)

Alfa Romeo’s fierce little roadster has gone topless for 2015 in the form of the 4C Spider. Featuring a simple canvas roof and no power steering, the Spider should prove to be a rorty back to basics sports car capable of 155mph and 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, when it goes on sale in the springtime.

Jaguar XE

car - TGJ.05

On sale: May

Price: £26,995

Jaguar will be hoping to see mile munching sales reps queuing out of the dealerships when its BMW 3-series rival arrives in May. With an aluminium body and rear-wheel drive set up, the XE promises to be a fun, premium and practical alternative to its German rivals.

Mazda MX5

car - TGJ.06

On sale: September

Price: £20,000 (est)

Good things come in small packages, right? Let’s hope so as Mazda’s latest incarnation of the world’s bestselling budget sports car goes on sale in the autumn. With 25 years of pedigree behind it, this little B-road warrior shouldn’t be overlooked by those in the market for a playful roadster under £25,000.
